Rejuran in Korea
Rejuran is the treatment most often asked for by name and least often understood. It is a polynucleotide booster: it does not fill, lift or whiten, and its effect builds over a course rather than appearing on the day.

What it is
Rejuran is a brand of polynucleotide injectable: purified DNA fragments, usually derived from salmon, injected in small amounts just under the skin surface.
The material itself does not add volume in any meaningful way. What it does is prompt a mild repair response, and the visible change comes from your own tissue responding over the following weeks.
What it is used for
- Thin, crepey skin that looks tired regardless of skincare
- The under-eye area, where volume must not change
- Skin that reacts easily, where stronger treatments are risky
- Texture and resilience rather than pigment or sagging
If your concern is a hollow, a fold, or a jawline that has dropped, this is the wrong treatment. Those are volume and lifting problems.
What a session involves
Numbing cream for twenty to thirty minutes, then a series of small injections across the treatment area. Most people describe it as pricking rather than pain, with the under-eye area being the most sensitive.
Afterwards you will see small raised points at each injection site. They settle within a day for most people, sometimes into the next morning. Bruising is possible, particularly around the eyes.
The course
| Typical | |
|---|---|
| Sessions | 3–4 |
| Interval | 2–4 weeks |
| When the change is visible | From the second or third session |
| Maintenance | One session every 3–6 months |
The course structure is the part visitors most often cut short. If your trip only allows one session, ask the clinic to write down the protocol so a clinic at home can continue it rather than restart.
Aftercare
- Leave the skin alone for the rest of the day; skip makeup over the points where possible.
- No sauna, hot yoga, swimming or alcohol for twenty-four hours.
- Keep the routine gentle for a few days — no acids or retinoids.
- Sun protection as usual.
How it compares with other boosters
Polynucleotides are the repair-focused end of the booster category. Polymer-based boosters aim more at firmness over months, and plain hyaluronic acid boosters aim at immediate hydration.
The full comparison is in the skin booster guide, and the difference from filler — the most common confusion — is set out in skin booster vs filler.
FAQ
How many sessions does Rejuran need?
Three to four sessions, usually two to four weeks apart, then maintenance every few months. One session is a start rather than a result.
Why do the bumps last longer than with other injectables?
Polynucleotide gel is absorbed more slowly than plain hyaluronic acid, so the small raised points at each injection site can stay visible into the next day. This is expected and settles on its own.
Is it suitable under the eyes?
It is one of the common uses, because the skin there is thin and responds to improvements in quality rather than volume. Placement in that area is technique-dependent, so ask how much experience the injector has with it.
Can it be combined with a laser?
Frequently yes — a gentle laser followed by a booster is a standard pairing in Korean clinics. The order and interval are decisions for the clinician.
