Under-Eye Filler in Korea

The under-eye is the area where filler produces the most dramatic improvements and the most persistent problems. Whether it suits you depends on what is actually casting the shadow.

What causes an under-eye shadow

Three different things, often together.

A hollow where the cheek meets the lower lid, which casts a shadow. This is the one filler addresses.

Thin skin through which underlying vessels show as a bluish tone. Filler does not fix this; boosters and pigment-aware treatments help more.

Pigment from sun exposure or genetics, which is a laser and skincare question.

A consultation that examines you in different lighting and asks you to change head position is doing the right thing. One that offers filler before looking is not.

Who it suits

Filler suits a defined hollow in someone with reasonable skin thickness and no significant fluid retention or under-eye bags. It suits less well if your eyes puff in the mornings, if you have had previous filler in the area, or if the skin is very thin.

Technique matters more here than anywhere else

The product must sit deep, against bone, in small amounts. Placed too superficially it shows as a bluish ridge; placed in too large a volume it holds water and looks swollen.

Questions worth asking:

  1. Which product, and why that one for this area?
  2. How much do you plan to use today?
  3. Do you keep hyaluronidase on site?
  4. When would you review, and what would you do if it looks uneven?

A clinic that answers all four plainly is a reasonable place to have this done.

Recovery

Swelling and occasional bruising for three to seven days. The final shape reads at about two weeks, which is also when any adjustment should be made rather than on the day.

Sleep with your head slightly raised for a few nights, avoid salt-heavy meals and alcohol for a day or two, and do not press or massage the area.

If it is not filler

For thin, crepey skin, Rejuran and other boosters improve quality without changing volume. For pigment, see the laser guide. The full picture of what causes dark circles, and which treatment matches which cause, is in the dark circles concern page.

FAQ

Why do some people end up puffy?

Hyaluronic acid attracts water, and the skin here is thin with little support. Too much product, or product placed too superficially, shows as persistent puffiness that can last well beyond the expected duration.

Can it be dissolved?

Yes, if a hyaluronic acid product was used. This is a strong reason not to accept a biostimulator or a permanent material in this area.

How long does it last here?

Often longer than elsewhere — a year or more — because the area moves less. That cuts both ways.

Is there a treatment that is not filler?

Yes. Thin, crepey, dark-looking skin responds better to boosters, and pigment responds to laser work. Whether filler is even the right category is the first question of the consultation.
